Generalize a naming convention for compartment specific columns

In the data base a few columns have a prefix like atd_, gw_, soil_, stw_, sfw_, ww_

Most of them are being held by the table_column name and are deleted through an alias in the views. Nevertheless, some columns like soil dry matter-, organic-, skeleton-, silt-, clay-, sand-, -texture etc. are primarily written for soil, but are also being used for sediments and sewage sludge.

Is a prefix then senseful if a user can not see them as they know in which view they are, but in the table a non compartment specific column is labelled as one even it is used for several?

(Thinking backwards: Should all columns that are not relevant in all compartments be given prefixes?)
